Mechanical Engineering

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from this prestigious institution. This degree granted me skills on hard Mathematics, such as Linear Algebra, Multivariate Calculus, Statistics and Probability, and Natural Sciences: General Mechanics, Physics, Chemistry, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics. The coursework included interpersonal areas like Project Management, Logistics and Ethics.

I did a minor on Computer Science: Algorithms, Functional Programming, Electronics, Robotics and Automation.

My Capstone Project was about developing and applying a custom software solution to streamline and automate the production management in the company I worked at the time, Elgam Metalurgica. It was chosen as the best Capstone Project of the year by the University, and because of it I got transferred to an Engineering position in the company, and was given leadership of a team to apply it.

Data Analyst Nanodegree

To formalize and increase my Data Science skills, I completed this specialization. The coursework was taught by industry leaders and included Descriptive and Inferential Statistics, Python for data analysis, Data Wrangling, Exploratory Data Analysis, Machine Learning, and Data Visualization.

I already had years of experience with Python, but this course exposed me to SQL, R and D3.js too. It deepened my understanding of the data science process, giving me additional skill on obtaining and cleaning data, working with databases and different data formats, drawing meaningful conclusions based on Statistics and Hypothesis testing, and much more.

Investment Manager

I started my professional life creating models for trend prediction for the stock market. During my time here, I did a lot of specializations on market analysis and used them to create a personalized investment portfolio (stocks, options, fixed rate and bonds) for the company. It was here that I developed a passion for data analysis.

Mechanical Engineer

After completing my Bachelor's degree, I was transferred to an engineering position. My capstone project was about organizing the production of the company, so I was given leadership of a team to apply it, streamlining and automating the production management using software, reducing costs and improving the performance.

Founder & CEO

Using the experience I acquired up until now, I founded my own company. It grew, fast. During it's peak, we had projects on 3 different locations throughout Brazil, and over 120 employees. We even did a joint venture with my previous employer, Elgam Metalurgica, from May 2014 to Jan 2015.

Data Scientist & Investment Manager

As the sector was starting to slow down because of the economic crisis in Brazil, I decided it'd make sense to close the company and go back to my roots as a financial analyst.

However, this time I focused on model and platform creation instead of just trading. After a while, I realized that what I loved about the job was coding and testing different algorithms instead of managing the portfolio. This was the reason I chose to study and become a Data Scientist!
